Solventis
Solventisfrom Toulouse plays dark folk, a mix of modern Celtic folk music and folk gaze. They have four releases to date, of which their latest album, Alcyon, came out in Autumn 2024.
Alcyonmeans kingfisher. According to myth, Alcyone, the daughter of Aeolus, the godof the winds, mourned the death of her beloved husband so deeply that they bothwere turned into kingfishers.
Solventisadd the roughness of electric guitar and powerful synths to their clear vocalsand the frame drum known as bodhran, to weave “musique sensible et solaire” –sensitive, solar music. As you wait for the sun to burst or the night to fall,as the day rises and dwindles, Solventis honors the repetitive deaths andbirths mirroring the cycles of our minds and bodies through life. “Primevère”is a song of renewal and hope, named after the medieval name of Spring inFrench, and one of the first flowers blooming in the waning of Winter.
