LACK

POST HARDCORE / NOISE / INDIE ROCK

LACK are back! A band named for what is missing has never lacked nerve. The renowned Copenhagen band reinvented itself with every record, from the screamo and hardcore of Blues Moderne: Danois Explosifs (2001), through the punk-hearted emo of Be There Pulse (2005), to the dance-ready indie of Saturate Every Atom (2008), each time leaving the last album's expectations behind. Then LACK went quiet. They returned to the stage in 2021 and spent the following years writing without promises, testing whether the tension between misanthropic resignation and defiant optimism still had something to say. It did. Eighteen years after the last album comes LACK (Dream Bureau, 2026).

‍

What drives LACK is a double refusal that runs through everything they do: they will not repeat themselves, and they will not aim to please. They treat intensity as a principle and the audience as part of the music, and they still sound unmistakably like LACK. Two guitars tug at each song from opposite sides, the bass hammers one plain phrase until it becomes the floor you stand on, and the drums circle the beat rather than sit on it. Over it, Thomas Burø sings high and close to cracking, indignant in every line. The words go where few bands care to, from surveillance and work to sexual freedom, set against music that will not let you stand still.

‍

WHAT TO EXPECT
LACK live is a collective act and art. A voice stretched to breaking point lands at close range, the floor and everyone turn damp within a few songs, and soon the room is shouting the words back at the stage with no regard for dignity or decorum. The pressure builds, the pit gives way, and you leave with the sense of having been part of something larger, and with a keen awareness of what still lacks change, inside as well as outside.
