40 Watt Sun plays rock music ranging between melancholic doom and poetic dirge. The trio has made four studio albums: The Inside Room (2011), Wider than the Sky (2016), and Perfect Light (2022). Their latest album, Little Weight, was released in Autumn 2024 on vocalist and guitarist Patrick Walker’s own label, Fisher’s Folly.
A modest 40 watt isn’t much of an energy burst, you might wonder, but don’t be mistaken: Behind the detained intensity in the songs – they tend to touch upon longing, love and nostalgia – lingers gravity and wholeheartedness.
The 40 Watt Sun show at A Colossal Weekend will be a solo performance by Patrick Walker.
